Professional Development

South Lake Schools offers a comprehensive professional development program
that is driven by the needs of students at every school. School Improvement Teams work annually to review data, and develop priorities to improve student outcomes. Professional development is planned around the work of the School Improvement Teams.

Below you will find the professional development calendar for the 2017-18 school year, as well as forms needed for staff to request to attend professional development.
District Provided Professional Development

The Michigan Department of Education, in accordance with MCL 380.1527, allows all Michigan educators to use District Provided Professional Development (DPPD) toward the progression from the Michigan Provisional teaching certificate to the Professional Education certificate or for renewal of the following Michigan Department of Education issued certificates of licenses:

  • Professional Education Certificate
  • Occupational Education Certificate
  • School Administrator Certificate
  • School Counselor Certificate
  • School Psychologist Certificate

Directions for logging DPPD hours in the MOECS site are below. In addition to following the directions from MDE, all teachers must ensure that a copy of the signed logs are on file in the Human Resources Office. Failure to do so, may result in the loss of DPPD hours in the event of an audit from MDE.
