well my name is Tubman help bar on the superintendent at Southlake schools I'd like to invite you to take a moment to watch this free video to see what Southlake schools has to offer at the elementary Rowland High School  there are so many things that I Love About The South Lake School District I would say one of my favorite things the sense of community and family I've been fortunate to teach almost every grade in the elementary so I have made many sense with student starting in sixth grade on it first grade second grade I get the siblings and then they still come back years later they're in their twenties coming back to visit me and see what's going on if it's just that wonderful family culture so South Lake School District provides a wonderful and Rich program over the summer there is a chance for the child to either take a reading Camp a math camp or a science Andy's enrichment courses are awful taught by a Southlake teacher so it's a wonderful opportunity to you the learning process over the summer because we know that that's where a lot of the summer loss happens so with this program they can then continue learn and go to school and it's free of charge and they get breakfast and lunch so Southlake elementary schools do a fabulous job of building that relationship with the middle school before the students move on they have a lot of opportunities for the Middle School come here and we'll do a kind of a meet and greet with the 5th graders answer questions the 5th graders get a tour over to the Middle School get to meet the tea that's one of our biggest claims to fame I would say is that we have a fabulous death I think that the staff here in Southlake schools are a bunch of rockstars robotics class here at South Lake Middle School is a semester-long class where the students learn how to build and program robots we have special tools that we use to code robot so that they can actually go ahead and follow a sequence of instructions and every task that we have students do is based on a real life robot that exists the skillset the Southlake cats can take to the high school or the ability to go ahead and program a robot how to be creative coming up with solutions for engineering or building robot being able to do a lot of problem solving and troubleshooting art of that we call a computational thinking and that involves going ahead and taking a bigger problem and breaking it down into his component parts to make it hear the song I'm started practices as it's an emerging field where try to get the offender in the victim in a situation together so they can hear how you know each of them has been affected I could because a lot of times and you know traditional systems you know they'll be a suspension in the person who was affected doesn't really get a chance to tell their side of the story so that's our goal is to let people on stand you know how their behavior affects other people the skills that students in restorative practices can carry with them are just a fashion for other people you know a sense of sympathy a sense of empathy we also like them to understand that students at Southlake School District weather the Middle School elementary school or the high school students every student has a right to learn when they come to school and we value that right to learn so we want them to take that with them along with the respect for their you know because the teachers here have a right to teach so you know we feel like that's an important thing for them to move forward you know is understanding that the people around them all right to do their jobs when they come to school and the students around them deserve a right to equality education so that's kind of what you know what our goal is hear it sounds like high school we believe all students can be successful in mathematics and we provide them with all of the tools they to be successful in mathematics solid foundation not only for the high school graduation requirements but also for students who intend to go on to college Career and Technical education so that we can give them a foundation for their college students were planning on going engineering for math Majors will have an in-depth analysis of calculus before they get to College if they decide to take and pass the AP Calculus exam what can even earn credit for their first semester calculus courses at College when we get to the end of the school year many teachers are always excited to leave and start their summer and while I am too I always end of school year looking forward to what the next school year brings and the new students that I'll see and be able to reach and hopefully trance into a love of mathematics  so Wednesday C2 pipeline as a partnership between State and South Lake High School we're funded through the 21st century Community Learning Centers which is part of the Federal Department of Education and so our goal is to have a safe place for kids to be after school and then while they're there we want to try and gauge them and activities that have to do with science engineering math and technology so we're doing lots of different activities so soon as the bell rings was giving students something to eat having some relax talk about your day then we go into our enrichment activity so that maybe like an engineering activity for the day we might be learning something about computer science learning about 3D printing or healthy living or maybe we're playing empowerment improv and then we have time to get your homework done and sometimes we sit in some chest games here in sedition to our after-school programs we also have a ton of Summer opportunities so students if they go to Southlake School our grant will pay for them to go to our summer camps for free so other kids to go to other schools are going to pay for that but since they're enrolled in Southlake or one of the other C2 pipeline School I get to go for free so and we have all kinds of great opportunities there there's a ton of engineering classes there is an improv Camp there's a movie make Camp there's underwater robotics there's an anatomy Camp there's a forensic Camp so there's all these really great camps if they could go to the web nights into Pipeline wayne.edu and there's my favorite Camp is the the Rube Goldberg Camp so or we're going to be building a Rube Goldberg machine this summer so it's a great the opportunity for students to learn about physics and mechanical engineering  research has proven that the safest way for your child to get to and from school is on a school bus we're happy to say that for the 2017-18 school year South Lake Schools is expanded its Transportation opportunities to high school students so will now have asportation for elementary
