2020 Filing Requirements for South Lake School District Board Members

November 3, 2020 Election


When to File:

Candidates must file no later than 4:00 p.m. on July 21, 2020. 

Where to File:

Office of the St. Clair Shores City Clerk, 27600 Jefferson, St. Clair Shores, MI 48081 

  • South Lake Schools - three (3) 6-year terms ending     12/31/2026
  • South Lake Schools - one    (1) Partial term ending       12/31/2022
  • South Lake Schools - one    (1) Partial term ending       12/31/2024 

What to File:

-Affidavit of Identity and Receipt of Filing
-Nominating Petitions or Filing Fee

School District Nominating petitions require a minimum of 40 signatures; maximum of 100 signatures from qualified and registered electors of the school district OR a $100.00 nonrefundable filing fee. 

Candidates must use School District Nominating Petitions if filing nominating petition signatures in lieu of the $100.00 nonrefundable filing fee. 

Candidate Withdrawal

-Candidates must withdraw, in writing, with the filing official by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2020. 

School District Board Member Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States, and a qualified and registered elector of the school district the candidate seeks to represent by the filing deadline.
