March 13, 2020
Dear South Lake Schools Community:
As was announced last night, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has ordered the closure of all K-12 school districts for the next three weeks (3/16/2020 through 4/5/2020). During this mandatory three-week closure, South Lake Schools will enact the following measures:
- All school related activities/events including the Celebration of the Arts, athletics, practices, clubs, latchkey, pre-school, etc. will be suspended until further notice
- All school buildings will remain closed to the public
- There will be no rental or use of South Lake Schools buildings or facilities
- School buildings will be deep cleaned the week of March 16th AND the week of March 30th
Spring Break is currently scheduled for Monday, April 6th through Friday, April 10th. There will be no change to this scheduled break.
These precautions represent our focus on limiting access to our buildings so we may maximize our ability to keep our schools clean and sanitized. There will be additional communication regarding instructional resources and supports for students early next week. Keep in mind that the parameters established in this letter may change as our situation changes. As this is a constantly evolving health emergency, we will continue to update our community throughout.
Theodore VonHiltmayer, Superintendent
