Attending a Board of Education Meeting

PUBLIC COMMENT PROCEDURES

The following procedures will be used by members of the public who would like to address the Board.

There will be forms available at the meeting, yellow for agenda comments and blue for general comments, for community members wishing to address the Board of Education, to complete. The forms will ask for the individual’s name, contact information, resident district and agenda item or topic of comment.

Blue forms must be given to the Board Secretary prior to the start of the Business Meeting. Yellow forms may be given to her throughout the meeting prior to adjournment. The forms will be given to the Board President who will call community members to the podium. Public commentary, in compliance with current SLS Board of Education Operating Procedures, 1.1.4-N, will be limited to two minutes. The South Lake Board of Education reserves the right to limit the number of comments per item, if time will be an issue. Comments that are frivolous, repetitive, or harassing in nature will be terminated. The South Lake Board of Education will not air Business Meetings in which the content of comments is deemed inappropriate for general audiences or might result in litigation.
