Summer Enrichment Opportunities

South Lake Schools offers families a number of opportunities for summer enrichment at the elementary and middle school level. Please see below for information on each of our summer programs for students. All of our programs are FREE to students attending South Lake Schools and include transportation (elementary students within district), and include breakfast and lunch.

KinderConnect
 
When:
July 16 - August 9 (Monday - Thursday)

KinderConnect is designed for incoming kindergarten students and provides them with a camp that is rich with literature and helps students to develop school routines that will be needed in the fall.

First Fundamentals
 
When:
July 16 - August 9 (Monday - Thursday)

First Fundamentals is designed for students leaving Kindergarten and going into first grade for the 2018/19 school year. First Fundamentals builds on the learning from kindergarten with students engaged in interactive literacy experiences to strengthen their reading and writing skills.

Literacy Science Camp
 
When:
July 16 - August 9 (Monday - Thursday)

Literacy Science Camp is designed for students entering grade 2 - 4 that have grade appropriate reading skills. This enrichment camp fuses high interest science texts with fun science activities that kids love!
 

Students will ....
  • Read high-interest science based texts and learn vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension strategies and skills
  • Engage in science activities and experiments focused on developing rich content knowledge and a love for scientific exploration.
  • Design and explore science concepts through an inquiry and investigative approach and framework.

South Lake Elementary Summer Learning Series

South Lake Schools will be holding a FREE summer enrichment camp that is designed to prevent summer learning loss for students going into grades 2 and 3. Students will interact with fiction and non-fiction trade books and participate in activities that keep their fluency and comprehension skills strong. Students will also have access to online curriculum that can be utilized at home for the rest of the summer. This fun and engaging program is open to any South Lake students entering grades 2 and 3. Camp has limited openings and registration is first come  first served.

Math Mindset Summer Camp

Math Mindset Camp is designed for exiting 6th and 7th grade students. The academic program consists of mathematical mindset messages, number talks to develop computational fluency, classroom activities from the inspirational math series on www.youcubed.org, along with several technology components. This fun and exciting program is sure to develop a love of math in your child by integrating engaging activities with interactive software to help correct students' misconceptions in mathematics and help them to understand concepts needed to be successful in algebra.

Summer Literacy Camp - Invite Only
 
When:
July 16 - August 9 (Monday - Thursday)
8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

The summer literacy camp is designed for students who need additional help in reading fluency and comprehension skills. The camp will be a continuation of the Reading Mastery Program, which builds on the lessons that students participated in during the school year and will extend their learning for the coming school year. This camp is by invite only.

Summer Math Camp - Invite Only

The summer math camp is designed for students who need additional help in mathematics fluency and numeracy skills. The camp will be a continuation of the Connecting Math Concepts Program, which builds on the lessons that students participated in during the school year and will extend their learning for the coming school year. This camp is by invite only.
