Our Mission is to provide an accepting and safe environment where students grow academically, physically, emotionally, socially, and ethically. Our purpose is to guide that growth in every child.

Vision Statement

Our vision is to create an exemplary middle school which will serve the educational needs of learners as we move toward the twenty-first century. A proactive approach will enable South Lake Middle School to confront the challenges of the future. As we plan to serve the diverse and unique educational needs of middle school learners, our school will be characterized by the following:

Curriculum review is a continuous process:

South Lake Middle School's Core Curriculum is aligned with the State of Michigan Core Curriculum Content Standards. Teachers meet regularly to implement and revise the standard curriculum. In addition, electives are added to the schedule when a need is perceived. Areas of weakness are identified and instructional materials are developed to improve student learning.

Family involvement increases student success:

South Lake Middle School involves families through a building newsletter, parent/teacher conferences, PTO meetings, special parent programs, and individual teacher contact. The school district invites all residents to learn more about their schools by volunteering to serve on district and building committees.

Parent-Teacher Conferences:
South Lake Middle School holds formal parent conferences in November and March. Conferences are held during the day and in the evenings, on a first come first serve basis.
