With the combined efforts of organizations and musicians from here, as well as those from the middle school and elementary schools, senior citizens were entertained at the annual breakfast held in their honor in early November.

From sing-alongs with elementary choirs, a performance from the band, and a breakfast prepared by the cafeteria staff and Culinary Arts students, senior citizens spent the morning mingling among themselves and with the students.

"I love it [the senior breakfast]," teacher Julie Nimety said, "because I had a chance to see student participation and interaction with senior citizens."

She thought that the breakfast was rewarding because she saw the senior citizens' faces light up because it benefits them the most.
"This is a great function," senior citizen Richard Rogers said. "I've never been to anything like this in my whole life!"

With trivia questions at each placesetting, the senior citizens were able to refresh their memory on the past. Also, many prizes were given away including South Lake memorabilia.
This is the sixth year that the school has hosted the senior citizen breakfast, and they hope to continue the tradition.

"I'll be sure to tell all my friends," Rogers said, "and I'll come back next year."
